It's been a real leveller of a Cup... a lot of teams you'd expect to progress did not... Spain, Italy, Portugal, Ivory Coast for starters.. .and maybe England... and a lot of the successful teams have got a lot of English Premier League players in them. And Russia as well, Capello is crap isn't he?

The Jocks have been known for their fierceness over the years, but only towards the English. A Scottish colleague of mine went to the Mexico World Cup (1982?) and revelled in telling the locals that the Irish had done their altitude training in Belgium
