While I definitely understand that they inspired and influenced The Stranglers, I can't say that I was ever a Doors fan. Dare I say it, but I actually thought they were incredibly overrated. But regardless of my lukewarm feelings towards their music: RIP Ray Manzarek. The music of the Doors may not have done very much for me, but they inspired and influenced a band that I'll always love. Without the Doors, the Stranglers music may not have turned out the way that it had, and for that I'll always be very thankful.

Have to agree with you. The Doors just sounded like hippy shit to me. The only track I liked was Echo and the Bunnymens version of People are Strange

Never really into the doors but you can't deny he was one talented chap and defined their sound - RIP.

I'm evidently in a minority 'cause I loved The Doors.

A bit of a bread-head, by most accounts, in later years, but an absolute legend in popular music,
with his own distinctive rock sound, a sound that will be forever his, and forever the benchmark against
which classic rock keyboards should sound (how many times, for example, over the years, have the press compared
The Doors' keyboard sound with that of a certain soft rok band that we all adore?).
A sad loss but big Ray, and particularly the wonderful sound he created, will always be remembered.
Say hi to Jim for me

With a certain Mr. Manzarek supplying keyboards and a crackin solo in the middle 8)
