Messi better than Parlour?

Post by unbroken69 »

After his five goal feast in Barcelona´s 7.1 mauling of Bayer Leverkusen tonight. Just how good is Lionel Messi is he in fact up there with the Romford Pele himself?
Oh the bliss, oh the pleasure caressing your ears.

I hve to admit messi is indeed the best player on the planet at the moment.
I carnt say if he is has good as Pele, ive only ever seen clips of Pele at his best.
I put Messi on par with Maradonna as i remember so much about him.
But Messi is by far the best player at the moment.

I would just like to say that this thread title is brilliant

That is all. Messi's shit, can't head for toffee.
Think I'll go for a stroll in the trees.

Ahem RVP?

Considering RVP is playing in one of thew worst Arsenal teams for years and is the leaques top scorer at the moment, what would he be like if he was playing for Barca?
Strolling along minding my own business.....

Messi has been playing well season after season, to be a great player this is what you need to do, to be world class then you have to be even better than just great season after seson which messi has done not only at club level but on the International also. RVP is no dout a great player and only a fool would say anything else but there have been a few bleep years were he would not be so good. Messi has done this year upon year...

I don't think you can compare players from different eras but he is definately the Maradona / Pele / Cruyff / Zidane of our times.
Last time I came here a friend of mine just got triple-jacked over a steeplehammer and jessop jessop jessop jessop jessop

Lionel Messi has just broken the Barcelona goalscoring record previously held by Cesar Rodriguez. His second goal tonight in the match against Granada (currently 4.2 to Barca) put his Barcelona goal tally to 233, one more than Rodriguez.
His record is somewhat impressive.

2007-08: 16 goals
2008-09: 38
2009-10: 47
2010-11: 53
2011-12: 53 to date

Still not sure though if he´s fit to lace Ray Parlour´s boots.

****Update 22.43 Messi hat-trick 5.2

****Update 22.50 Grananda 3.5 Barcelona. Full time. Another match ball for Messi. The guy has a lot of balls.

Lionel Messi has become the first European top-flight player in almost 40 years to score 60 goals in a season.
The Argentine scored two goals in the 4-1 La Liga win over Real Zaragoza last night.

A remarkable feat in any era, but given the demands of today´s game 60+ goals a season in a top league is nothing short of miraculous, up there with the resurrection.
Oh the bliss, oh the pleasure caressing your ears.
