Recommend Me Some Ale Please.

Post by unbroken69 »

Having not been back to the UK for almost two years and it´s a lot longer since i´ve been in a London Ale House: I really need your help, recommending some tasty alcoholic beverages, for when I hit London for the convention.
I do occasionally get down to the ex-pats warehouse and have acquired a taste for Crabbies Alcoholic Ginger Beer, scrumptious and extemely dangerous, I also have a few bottles of Oyster Ale in the cupboard waiting to be consumed, but i´ve been very ill lately so they´ve been waiting patiently for me. So that will give you a clue about my tastes at the moment.
So please some recommendations on Ale and Ale houses in the City and Kings Cross area.
Oh the bliss, oh the pleasure caressing your ears.

You need to be in the North of England to get decent Ale. At the moment I'm going through a "Saltaire Blonde" phase along with "Midnight Bell" and "Copper Dragon".

Not sure where it's from but I like a pint of Abbott bitter these days. The number of times I've asked for a pint of Abbot and half a Costello I mean Carling, you would not believe
Think I'll go for a stroll in the trees.

Bollocks to all this ale business, get a load of Strongbow down you.

Indulge your taste buds in: 1) Fursty Ferret Ale by Badgers Brewery 2) Hobgoblin Ale by Wynchwood Brewery 3) Bishop's Finger Ale by Shepherd & Neame
After several bottles of each... you should be well on your way to "avinit large" as we "Saarfth Laanhdaners" say....... sorted geezer!
cheers

Now you're talking the proper stuff - Oh yes and throw in a few Abbots for good measure
Hi "EckyEckyNahNah", you're obviously a man of considerable taste!....... I was considering adding the illustrious Abbots ale to the mix, but on reflection thought he might fall
off the bar stall and miss the gig!

currently:
St Peter's Brewery Ruby Red Ale
Long Days
Sneck Lifter
Late Red
Old Golden Hen
Adnam's Southwold Bitter
Doom Bar
Young's Banana Bread

there's a good selection at Morrisons at the mo.

Also had a peach lager last night but that was at the Norwich beer festival so might be hard to track down. :smt030 :smt046

Definitely a lot of food (or beer) for thought. Anyone got any recommendations on Public Houses. I will be in London for a few days, staying in the Russell Square area. Im going to have to make a list of these ales and get through as many as I can. At the convention isn´t there a Stranglers fan who has his own micro brewery selling his produce, including a beverage called Golden Brown. Maybe he will go easy on our pockets, seeing as we´re Brethren like.

Don't let him near the Fullers ESB then

Or the Greene King winter warmers
I guess we can rule out the lethal Barley Wine then also!
