101 Gadgets that changed the world
Interesting list of gadgets which have changed the world according to this article. Any items which spring to mind that you would add to the list?
I thought Record player or torch might have been included - unless I've missed them.

The wheel.
That would have been an awesome gadget to master. If I could expand on 'gadget' though, I would nominate the internet.

iPod / MP3 Player
Brought the music industry to its knees apparently. Well, maybe not quite but it's certainly changed the way we regard / handle / listen to music.

Hmmm it's not *that* legendary though is it? I know it's mentioned in the list but people have been transferring music about ever since the cassette tape came out.
We still listen through headphones/speakers.

Re: 101 Gadgets that changed the world
Granted copying music has been around forever but think of it this way.1) My kids never buy albums. The concept is alien to them when they can pick individual tracks that they like. 2) For large amounts of the time, I listen to music on "shuffle" - in the car, in the gym, at work - when you can't really give time to selection. 3) Also, I've virtually given up buying "on spec" these days when I used to do it all the time before. It's so simple to try before you buy these days and cuts out the "turkeys" that lurk in the back of your album racks. So while you could argue that it's not changed THE world, I'd say it's certainly changed MY world.

I thought that a gadget was just a novelty item with little practical use but lots of these look indispensable.
The greatest developments these days are in recycling and reducing the use of limited resources. So combining these qualities with an essential item, the green vibrator should be mentioned on the list; it's the shape of the future!
