You are correct, I "don't do trains"

Now go, and take your depressing little thread with you.

The train drives onto the ferry. You leave your stuff in the train and enjoy the crossing on deck.

Done it a few times. Highly recommended.

Not the worst thread on here by any means. It's got that English eccentricity feel about it.

Superb freight train footage from northern France.

The publisher of the footage says :

"Freight train passing over level crossing on the D36 road (where the Rue de la Bleue meets the Rue de Fresnel) between Armentières and Perenchies in the Nord-Pas-de-Calais region in France".

Enjoy !

So I don't mind admitting to bit of train spotting in my youth, no shame in that. There were differences between train designs even through the deisel era but with this level crossing stuff I'm struggling to find much variation.
I suppose what I'm asking is are there any really unusual crossings anywhere. A hand cranked barrier, or perhaps curtains instead of barrier.
Any officionados with any enlightening links?

Wow, just wow!
Man asks a sensible, inquisitive, potentially educational question about level crossings and yet it gets totally ignored in favour of what?, Rolling fucking eyes!

Ssh, don't you know there's an election on? We're waiting to find out if the level crossings will be re-nationalised. Or were they never privatised? Great...now I'm asking questions about level crossings... Might have to walk down to the signal box and ask.
