Freddie Laker for me, and thanks to Dan Electro I've just replayed the whole Euroman album, that's the second time this year :D
'Peaches - A Chronicle of The Stranglers from 1974 to 1990', out 2014 on Soundcheck Books.

Think I'll go for a stroll in the trees.

Cannot believe it????
Surely, there can be only 1 contender?
No, We Were Lovers??? (on the list)?
That song has simply got to be THE best vocal delivery by the great man? So much passion, heart-felt pain, longing, and suffering! Its delivered in an amazing way to a song that is so well engineered and polished, yet JJ`s vocals aren`t hidden by the music, and every note is pitch perfect.
If you dont believe me, I think there are so many world wide comments and covers to this song from all over the globe featured on youtube from folk who have never heard of JJ, or indeed the Stranglers !! Its definately got the most views fro JJ on youtube (in so many guises/posts on there, inc. "we were lovers-guitar/violin/piano cover" etc.
"The future of Britain? Baaaaaaaaaaaaaah!"

Si J'Etais or Le Whiskey, it's a close run thing.

Si J'Etais. Had to think about for a while. Un Jour Parfait is such a beautiful album - almost no weak moments there. I think it's the best recording made by a Strangler between 1984 and 2004.

Do The European for me. Le Whiskey and Freddie Laker aren't far off though.
Never say goodbye,
For we'll all be with you someday,
Fond adieus but never say goodbye

In the absence of Si J'Etais, Jellyfish just edges it for me, just cos it makes me dance round the front room like a loon.

My fave is le whiskey, but Elle Assure always gives me the shivers....i think that track should never have been throw away. He should have exploited it a wee bit!
