I went for Ghost Train... although could have been ATS, MS or WIY? or TP....
Thank you very much

This one took a bit more thought than Sculpture, and theres a good few
tracks on it that I like, but in the end I plumped for Always The Sun, cos its a classic.

and all the cunts that should fuck off...

Poor production from Mike "In The Night" Kemp but Shakin stands out for me. What a tune !!!

I think the production is great- Always The Sun seriously shimmers, as does Too Precious and Mayan Skies. That said his work on ITN sounds awful but then Burnel is playing midi bass.

I think Was You could have sounded better. It sounded good live on You Tube a couple of years ago without the brass so Dave was more prominent. Ive never witnessed it played live though.

The only thing wrong with Always The Sun is that it had been overdone live in recent years which has led to over familiarity. As a tune and a song I think it is superb and a genuine Stranglers classic. It is light years ahead of anything else on Dreamtime, an album which I think has really stood the test of time far better than its sister Aural Sculpture which sounded flat, uninteresting and uninspired the last time I played it.

Incidentally I think one reason ATS always means a lot to me is that I heard it first time ahead if release when I went on one of those coach trips to see the band at the Pink Pop festival in Belgium. An amazing day where The Stranglers never came on until nearly midnight and many of those who travelled never heard a notebecause they were slaughtered by then (we had arrived at midday)!

Loved ATS then, love it today.

Ive been obsessed with Mayan Skies recently, I just can't stop playing it! I'd love it if Hugh's next album was along these lines.

I thought it was an ok song on the album but the live version on the Dreamtime Tour was incredible, a powerhouse song almost unrecognisable from the album version.
Can't think of any other songs that were such a dramatic improvement played live.

:smt041 :smt041 Love all of this L.P as well but at a push it would have to be Ghost Train.

All the best
