STRAIGHTEN OUT - BATHGATE - 30/11/2013

Post by dan-electro »

Excellent gig last night, venue was packed with a very enthusiastic audience (I think even the band were surprised by the attendance and atmosphere). I was at the gig in June and I reckon the audience was more than double it was that night. The set wasn't as experimental as the one in June but I believe was more of a standard set for the band. Apparently the last ever gig in Scotland for the band. As it was St.Andrew's Day we were 'treated' to a rendition of '500 miles' by The Proclaimers before the encores (Which the band played with very large 'See you Jimmy' hats on and kept them on for the encores). There were 28 songs in the set last night, so an extremely long night as we also had a local punk tribute band called 'Cash From Chaos' support act beforehand (who played some punk classics) and I noticed had a very attractive female drummer. The songs sang (not in order)

Sometimes, Goodbye Toulouse, London Lady, Princess Of The Streets, Hanging Around, Peaches, Grip, Down In The Sewer, Go Buddy Go, Bitching, Dagenham Dave, Something Better Change, No More Heroes, Peasant In The Big Shitty, Burning Up Time, Straighten Out, 5 Minutes, Tank, Nice 'N' Sleazy, Sweden, Toiler On The Sea, Curfew, Shut Up, The Raven, Genetix, Who Wants The World?, Thrown Away & Tramp.

Well worth the £10 I paid at the door (£8.00 if you bought a ticket) 8)
Hugh - "We had gangs of skinheads coming along trying to cause problems and stuff"
Rick Wakeman - "How did you deal with it?"
Hugh - "Our bass player used to jump off the stage and beat the shit out of them!"
