Did anyone on here like them? Sorry I couldn't resist sticking this in the Tribute Band Thread.

haha nicely done! They were alright at the time even bought one of their albums but can't say I'd play it much now - It was incredibly 90s..... imitating the 70s of course!

I remember the NME saying something like The Stranglers should feel grateful that a band as cool as Elastica are playing one of their tunes.

Terrible.

I did like Menswear though, who also ripped off the Stranglers a bit.

I thought that the first album was really good, but after that they went downhill.

I too liked Justine quite a lot.

The only good thing about Damon Albarn (i hate Blur) is Justine!!

Great run of singles and a good first album - like them alot (still do).

Menswear were another band that had a great first couple of singles but went downhill very fast (including their album - which is a disappointment).

A lot of the 'Britpop' bands shone brightly for a while - Sleeper, Mansun, Kenickie, etc..

Was it Menswear that did "Happy Shopper" ? Some fantastic nuggets and B-Sides buried away in the 90s. Kenickie's B-Sides were always good fun.

Yeah , quite liked them, remember first seeing them on the Word and thinking how much Justine F reminded me of a female version of a certain Mr Cornwell

I remember Reni from the Stone Roses saying on Radio 1 that this sounded like Nice & Sleazy

I think it sounds 999's Emergency too

I stand corrected - well remembered! Yeah some great songs tucked away.
