Re: Straighten Out - 12 Bar Swindon 22nd Oct
Another great night with Straighten Out, my fifth one, and my third in Swindon's 12Bar - with the third (or fourth, if you count Rodders' stab at Tank a couple of years back) frontman I have seen them appear with.
A good turnout made even better by the surprise addition of Rodders himself, and Claire, who decided to make the journey over at the last minute, the Greyhound beforehand was pretty packed.
The band rattled through many favourites and even included a debut of Mean To Me, which considering they had not practised, was one of the highlights of the night.
I spoke to the boys afterwards and they were all of the opinion that they had played better gigs and that their performance was "pretty average" - well, from where I was standing, it sounded pretty good to me. Great to meet 'new' boy Phil, and good to see Garry back on the drums.
Also, as it was/will soon be Shaggy's birthday, a card was passed round for all to sign and we clubbed together for a bottle of champagne for him - he was very grateful but I think he would rather have kept it quiet
Great to see many others, especially Fatbusjim, who by his standards, had a relatively quiet one, the t-shirt reluctantly coming off only once or twice just to keep the ladies happy
Thanks again to Straighten Out for coming down south once more, I think we all know they don't make much money from these long distance jaunts - I'm just glad they keep making the effort

Nice one Mike. It was a good night.
Rugby Union is not only the greatest team sport in the world on the field, but without a shadow of a doubt, is the greatest team sport in the world off the field. Nigel Owens.

They're their own biggest critics , If only they could see their performances from our perspective and realised how brilliant they are.
"They don’t come much better than The Stranglers when performing live; there is no pretence, no hiding place, just superb music"
