Moons- The Raven
Macedonian tribute project, Moons, with their version of The Raven-
I could probably have hidden it on the YouTube/Gems thread,
but I thought it deserved a thread of it's own, on a Friday night.
Kinda Sisters-y in places (probably just the vox), with some nice surprise elements
and styles to listen out for too - I can hear the Smiths, Sisters, the Police,
among others, and it's even got a Prog break, and reggae finale-
and still sounds like it's self.
- I like it.
I just listened to it twice and I'm gonna stick it on again

Re: Moons- The Raven
Never heard anything like it Quite amazing
There is no video to accompany the song.....but that didn't stop me imagining it....
A Johnny Marr lookalike on guitar, an early career Sting on bass, complete with huge sunglasses. Not sure about the drummer, perhaps a faceless Spinal Tap-esque session musician.....
....then out of a wall of dry ice, appears a man dressed in black, wide-brimmed hat sprinkled with flour, tassled suede coat, tight leather trousers and pointy boots....yes, it's Macedonia's answer to Andrew Eldritch...
Can just picture it now
Not a bad effort - certainly puts a different spin on the classic we all know and love

Well fuck my old boots
Just watching a friend's link on FB to The Cult's She Sells Sanctuary - a quality song and vid if I ever saw one - and who should I see "appearing from a wall of dry ice, dressed in black, wide-brimmed hat, tassled jacket", the lot....not Mr Eldritch, no..but a certain Ian Astbury (because he was, after all, The Cult's frontman and Andrew wasn't).
So that's where that image came from....although I'm sure it's been done many a time by the Sisters main vox-man as well......

Re: Moons- The Raven
Pretty cool version if you ask me
Re: Moons- The Raven
That's bloody brilliant.
Really captures the feel of the original and the vocals are suitably edgy.

Re: Moons- The Raven
It lacks keyboards so the singer should maybe have done some 'Do do do' bits like Steve Lawrence/Fish or whatever!
Good find Alias-very interesting interpretation...

It doesn't seem to matter ............How many versions are there now? Isn't there a search facility on BUT?????? (I wish they hadn't done the dub version at the end...),
