if it's true, I'm horrified they're going back to support gigs again. It doesn't bring in "lapsed" fans, and the sets aren't long enough to win over new converts. People are there to see the headliners, end of story - if they're lucky, the hall will be half-full for The Stranglers. I thought that was the whole point of playing festivals, anyway, to get them in front of an audience who may not know that much about them? People are much more inclined to watch a band they know nowt about at a festival - support acts are missed due to time spent at the bar!

In other words, it's just a money-making exercise - nothing wrong with that, but please spare us all the preceding interviews about getting the Stranglers message out to the masses: it's bullshit.

Fine and dandy if you stay local, personally I would rather spend my dosh, if coming to 'That London', on going to the H&A to see 2 hours of Straighten Out with the great meet before and afterwards.

Disappointing for them to go back to support after a successful March tour. I think they should decline any support gigs now at this stage in their career. No compromises

Wasn't supporting UB40 humiliating enough?

You have to be realistic - a "no support" attitude will not pay the bills. I'd only be pissed off if this stopped them doing their own tours, which seems unlikely as they appear to enjoy every tour more than the last.
I can't help getting old. I just refuse to grow up.
