Well, I dont wanna piss on anyones fire BUT..... I was told by a very, VERY reliable source, certain US dates were in the bag. When I pressed for a little more info, 6 cities were reeled off in quick succession...and quite animated about it too. Needless to say it didnt materialise...
If it happens, it happens...Convention being likely...but if it aint on the Lair...!!?

Sorry, should have been clearer - 10/09 means 10th of September to me. I use the classically imperial DD/MM rather than the terribly nouveaux US convention of MM/DD when I write down dates. And that's the date he sent me the e-mail, not necessarily the date of the sighting. I've written back to him asking for further clarification on the date and whether he's really certain that it was indeed JJ & Hugh who he saw. Jon.

In all honesty I would love another convention and next year would certainly be justified.

I would imagine that various proposals have or are being put to the band and management.

A 20+ dates tour would take more arranging then a 1 or 2 day convention and the tour dates went up
just 5 months before the start so wouldn't expect any sort of announcement until maybe after the tour.

We may have the usual round of selected summer festivals and why not European or maybe the supposed
return to America?

Lets enjoy the upcoming and the fact that the band are still gigging into their 40th year.

I will try and do a good few dates and keep my fingers crossed for anything more after.

It would be great if they could maybe record the tour and sell downloads/physical through the web site?
Seems more and more bands doing that and must be a reasonable revenue stream.

I don't think it's the recording - as far as I know, every gig has been recorded for years, in case they ever ended up back in a situation like "Nice" where they were left trying to find a local radio station bootleg of the gig to prove who had said what on the night. Mixing it to a decent standard might be the time-consuming part. I know a lot of other bands do it, but then they have a much bigger road crew and maybe more people "back at the ranch" to handle stuff like that - I am pretty sure the Stranglers entourage is much smaller these days and they would have to pay someone external to do it. Then face everyone saying "God, not another live album!"
