One thing maybe worth pointing out is the scenario is JJ bowing out in good health (rather than us discussing him dying etc). Let's please use that as the scenario here. JJ bows out but gives Baz and co his "blessing" to continue without him.

Re: Tour Epitaph
This is why the Greatest Hits style tours keep getting rolled out. Nostalgia sells even if there's just 1 original member. Personally, I hope JJ does that solo album - he could even do it in between Greatest Hit tours. Jim JJ could do better financially and creatively on his own as would any other t...

Re: Would you see The Stranglers without JJ?
I think the Stranglers carrying on without JJ isn't that much of a stretch is it.HOFT wrote:wat if ?
jj were to drop over dead.
hugh cornwell would rejoin on guitar.
baz would take over on bass, also attempting to do jj's signature moooves.

Re: Tour Epitaph
I think you're the prime demographic that the band are tapping into Kudu. Going for "sentimental reasons"
Also, I didn't have you down as anything but a "soft sentimental bloke" tbh. Dunno what else you expected?!

Re: Tour Epitaph
Equally though I find it a bit much for a fan to suddenly decide that "X has now made it as a Strangler" (I'm avoiding Baz's name here). Who are you to decide that a band member is now a fully paid up "Strangler"?

Re: Would you see The Stranglers without JJ?
Interesting, very interesting.
Yeah I was gonna expand on the votes but having it like this encourages the debate
Would it sway people if the band without JJ had "JJ's blessing" ?

Would you see The Stranglers without JJ?
So that means no original members. The band being Baz, Toby, Jim and someone else on bass.
Oh and the band are still calling themselves "The Stranglers" (I know that's important to some of you)

Put it to a poll - I'll do it https://www.themeninblack.co.uk/forums/viewtopic.php?t=24589 Jim This is obviously another thread subject rather than here but ........ I do wonder what peoples view of a Stranglers with out JJ is ? . I mean Baz is the lead singer so very much dominates the Live sound o...

Re: Tour Epitaph
I guess whichever "side of the fence" you're on, be it actively still going to the gigs, or staying at home it's gonna be a big impact for a fair few people when JJ calls time on it. I hope for some people that JJ manages to put a few more tours in.

Re: Tour Epitaph
You don't have to go to the dates to comment. Similarly you don't have to have seen MKI to comment on MKI live threads etc.

Re: Tour Epitaph
My thoughts entirely. Not like I'm totally against it and I've enjoyed reading the reviews and seeing fans enjoying themselves etc. Just not for me any more thanks. Jim Personally it would pain me more to attend a show than it does to abstain. But there's no way I would criticise fans who still go an...
