The Magic Band (sans Beefheart of course), Manchestester

Time for something a bit different Although I saw The Stranglers in Leeds on Saturday and will be doing the same in Manchester shortly, I don't need to offer another review on what was another fine performance by the band. The week leading up to my trip over the penines from Manchester to see The St...

Re: New Tour - Setlist Spoilers

They always get better a few dates into the tour. Nowadays the Scottish dates are just a warm up/rehearsal for the legitimate part of the tour :smt110

Re: XTC... Waxworks/Beeswax... Result!

It's too easy to compare them to the Stranglers, but there's a reason for that. They started off full of raw energy which featured heavy and dirty bass with some Doors-esque keyboard tones, then they moved to a more melodic and polished sound as the 70's ended and the 80's began. Obviously, this had...

Re: New Tour - Setlist Spoilers

Seeing the set list before a gig is one thing, but watching it on youtube is what spoils it. I managed to steer clear of seeing the set list a couple of years ago and not read any reviews on here but saw someone had posted a youtube link of Two Sunspots on facebook. Gave the game away big time beca...

Re: "The Brits" Music is dead.

The "face" of music has been dead for years, didn't need the Brits to confirm that. Scratch beneath the surface a bit and you'll be pleasantly surprised how alive it can be. There are artist on the underground and who aren't signed to major labels who record companies may have taken a punt...

Re: Wonkie Bus Trip to ?

In the mid eighties I saw them play in Dusseldorf, great night... and a cool game of footie with the German MIB fans in the car park a few hours before the gig. Burn e 77 Who won ? Hope you didnt bring great shame on our nation ! We were victorious... a blinding second half... aided by our 8 hole D...

Re: XTC... Science Friction.

Really top band, been getting into them quite a lot over the last few months. Moulding and Partridge are both brilliant song writers and musicians in their own right. I prefer the 80's stuff, particularly Drums and Wires (I know that was 79), English Settlement and later on Wasp Star, but you can't ...
