I really like Water (great production, build, like a swirling sea of drama and DG is splendid here) This Song (just a lovely bright Stranglers pop song; DG once again - the church organ just lovely - poptastic like a Barbara or a She's Slipping Away, or Duchess...

I love 'No Man's Land' - that bass - cor! - wish the song had a few more instrumental mental bits. It could be longer and incredible. Keep thinking with the end of Breathe it's "err, Mr. Greenfield, your space ship is waiting, sir...thank you for everything...and good luck in the next world...b...

I also thought Water sounded like a right plod live from the last tour. Hearing the recorded version it's a different beast. A proggy beast still in search of a good chorus, but I can't wait to hear it loud at home. Interesting choice of album opener though? Longships, Waltzinblack, Time to Die, Ano...

Does anyone know, or even had a chat with John R about the new lp? He's clearly heard it and what he mentioned (a few times) was quite intriguing and hopeful. I wonder what he would say to "what Stranglers songs or periods do you sense an echo of?'....he implied that. Interested in his take out...

I just bought the updated XTC 5.1 surround sound cd's for Black Sea (with fantastic Stranglers circa 1980 wannabee song "rocket from a bottle') and they come with bonus discs full of goodies as you can imagine. Downloaded the main disc to itunes via my trusted old Mac Book Pro...via the cd/dvd ...
