http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SjdhAZ_KWd4 released a few times on cd as Stranglers & Friends - easy to be found on ebay - this is the infamous Rainbow gig from 1980 with John Ellis on guitar all evening and apart from Dury also appearing Robert & Mathieu from the Cure, Toyah, Hazel O Conno...

Re: Bands you missed out on
I would have loved to have seen Ian Dury and The Blockheads around the time of New Boots and Panties. I've heard about a concert in 1980 where The Stranglers (without Hugh) play London's Rainbow Theatre and Ian Dury sings Peaches with them. Does anyone know if there is footage of this concert on You...

Re: Reggae
Probably because of the hot weather, I'm really into this song at the moment http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cAjXL_21HOMBoody wrote:Friend of mine is a big fan of Prince Fatty. Who is neither a prince, nor overweight, or so I'm told.
Milk and Honey by Hollie Cook is produced by Prince Fatty.

Re: Luke Haines
Luke Haines new album "New York In The 70's" out today May 26th. http://www.cherryred.co.uk/shopexd.asp?id=4615 Luke Haines seems very interesting (I'd not heard of him before now). I watched a few things by him and by Black Box Recorder on You Tube and I was impressed. It's not all good ...

Re: The producers Clive Langer and Alan Winstanley
Didn't Langer do some AC/DC stuff? I'm not sure but I don't think so. Langer seems to like everything to be very precise and perfect. Every instrument is recorded separately and each take is done over and over again. I think AC/DC would need someone to get them to play together and find a way of ma...

The producers Clive Langer and Alan Winstanley
I thought this interview was interesting. I knew Langer and Winstanley had produced albums by The Stranglers, Madness and Elvis Costello but I didn't realize quite how many others they'd worked with. It's quite an impressive list. They comes across as likable people http://www.soundonsound.com/sos/j...

Re: Reggae
Cheers, I liked all the recommendations, thanks. Of course there are lots of other white reggae things I love including some Clash stuff, Joe Strummer doing Harder They Come, Graham Parker doing Problem child and Elvis Costello doing Detectives. There are many others I've just forgotten about. Maybe...

Reggae
In the Song By Song book they say that Peaches was the band trying to do reggae. I think it captures the roughness or the feel of some of the best reggae. I don't like much white man reggae (e.g. Sting, Clapton, Rolling Stones, Lilly Allen) but I do like Ian Dury's Lullaby For Francis, and Don't Bre...

Re: "Jerry Lee Lewis" to play 3 British dates 2015
My mum has a DVD of Johnny Cash's Christmas show. Johnny Cash used to do a show where he did not-as-funny-as-you'd_like comedy sketches with stars like Steve Martin and then sing songs with his friends and families. One show was made just after Elvis died and Johnny Cash, Roy Orbison, Jerry Lee Lewi...

It maybe a very strange thing to get people to vote for but The Stranglers are well ahead. More than 40 % of readers have voted for them. Madness meanwhile got less that 1 %
