Re: The Clash vs The Stranglers
I couldn't ever imagine having a musical diet that just consisted of music that punk purists considered to be "real punk", for me that would be like having an actual diet that solely consisted of white bread, or having a family tree that looked like a stump. Just really boring, self-refer...

Re: Ground control Paris
Anyway. The gig I have separated the audio and put it into individual tracks. Have not touched EQ or anything like that. Jim/Stan are you ok if I upload? There is no sleeve but if a creative sort would like to make one, please do. I must stress that this really should stay here and not get into boot...

Re: Ground control Paris
of course you are right there, we are OT but I dare say thou art as responsible most of the time. The fluidity of your criteria is amusing, there is a sense of credibility to it, I'm not that harsh, but if you are talking about time, Baz has been a Strangler longer that Hugh so......... Anyway. The ...

Re: Ground control Paris
You are pointing out the one fact that i keep on saying on here too and that is a band cannot be a tribute one if there is even just one original member in it ...and as pointed out to you a million times, yes it can. Stan. when you look around you and everyone around you tells you that you are wron...

Re: The Clash vs The Stranglers
You say business sense, but who are richer now? I'm not sure it all went down exactly how Rhodes or McLaren planned, but they certainly developed commercial brands. That said, I think everyone who side stepped either of them are better for it. Look at the length of the career. Great business sense ...

Re: Ground control Paris
I think he's saying he liked the performance Kudu Jim JJ and Friends biggest cheerleader ruins the party again. Lt Kudu. :smt005 I was just agreeing with aldinblack in the sense that this current line-up is what it is: a band that aren't the "proper Stranglers" playing Stranglers music co...

Re: Ground control Paris
Great set . Well produced and shot. Tight band. Not bad for a cabaret band is it? Some fella called Burnel and some mates. Doing covers I'm told.
Seriously though, despite detractors you can't say this isn't a great band!

Re: The Clash vs The Stranglers
Never understood the levels of devotion that they received. Some great singles but the posturing and image put me off. And that film they made with Ray Gange of whatever he's called, utter shite!

Re: Jim Mac changing the bass drum parts on old songs
I disagree Stan. For a long time PR and JE did their own things to Stranglers songs and it was acceptable. Well, there's a re-writing of the truth if I ever saw one. The dissent of PR and JE's treatment of various MKI songs was so consistent it may as well have been a meme. As this current line-up ...

Re: Jim Mac changing the bass drum parts on old songs
Y'see, it's acceptable to JJ Burnel & Friends fans when Jim makes embellishments but it was never acceptable when PR or JE did it. I'll let you all chew on that thought for a while. I disagree Stan. For a long time PR and JE did their own things to Stranglers songs and it was acceptable. Look a...

Re: Birmingham
Stan come on man, are you really saying they hired him just because he was available and up for it? I don't recall hearing about them auditioning hordes of drummers to find a suitable replacement, do you? True. But do they run every decision past you my dear? I believe that the Management will do a...

Re: New Killing Jokes track
An EP 25th March. Vinyl in September. Some nice dub mixes on the EP. I too had expected a bit of variation/progression. It is very much in the vein of the last 3 albums but I would like to see it opened up a bit more. What I am pleased about is that it is a concise track and not a 6 minute overblow...
