Re: Strangler in the light

I assume Ellis wanting extra money for those gigs in former Yugoslavia was not the main reason. Don't forget Ellis' contributions were dismissed after the commercial failure of Written in Red and he openly stated he was not happy at all just touring the hits and Cornwell era classics, wanting to pr...

Re: Strangler in the light

Why do you have no interest in the book? Jim I spoke with JE a couple of times and he was very pleasant. Not an exuberant chap perhaps but a decent sort. No idea what JJ says about him as I have no interest in the book, but from other bits n pieces it won't be positive will it? It hasn't grabbed me...

Re: Morrisey

Yes he has recorded. But then gets into a row with the record companies who he sold them to and tehy say, sod you and don't release!

I think Capitol own one and not sure if the other one got picked up because he has such a poor reputation.

Re: Dark Matters has it stood the test of time?

I know we keep going on about 10, but I am a fan. The rawer Stranglers sound really had been refined since La Folie onwards and I think 10 had more punch than the two albums preceding it. Big drums, big bass, big everything. I like the sound. Bits of AS and Dreamtime are a bit lame sonically here n ...

Re: Strangler in the light

JJ is the one with the problem isn't he? I mean, let it go lad!!
It's not healthy!

Hugh may not have had the success that he may have imagined. I remember a time when the Stranglers relegated themselves to little more than toilets!

Re: Dark Matters has it stood the test of time?

Played it the other day and was still into it.

Some great songs. Last Man on the Moon is a great track, probably the best on there but some far better output than on Giants.

Oh! NME!

remember when this used to be something to enjoy and revel in? From the NME site today regarding U2 On hand for the shoot were Bono, guitarist the Edge, drummer Adam Clayton and bassist Larry Mullen Jr., the latter of whom is not performing at the band’s Sphere shows due to surgery recovery. Drummer...

Yeah, I suppose so.

Re: CRASS

I've always had a bit of a problem with Crass and Rimbaud. I do not doubt his integrity and his belief, but I struggle with the way that many slavishly follow the word of Crass and Rimbaud. To me, punk was about having your own thoughts and ideas and deciding what you wanted or didn't. Followers of ...
