Well, I've never seen SLF before last night, and to be honest I'd never heard of many of the songs. But it was a good night, and my left ear is still ringing the morning after, which is a good gauge that it was loud enough.

If this is the one with the pipers, it was repeated recently on BBC3 (or BBC4) when they showed some of the "Rock Goes to College" repeats. As I recall, it was broadcast on the radio when it was more current.

I'm going to see them on Wednesday. Never really been into them to be honest, but there's a new music venue opened up in Crewe, saw The Damned there the other week, SLF on Wednesday, Fish is there just before Christmas, and the Inspiral Carpets next year. I've told the guy he needs to get The Strang...

I've just got a ticket to see "The Damned" at a new-ish music club in Crewe on Thursday night. I'm in two minds whether they're worth seeing, but as it's walking distance I might as well go and have a look. Stiff Little Fingers are on in October, so that might be worth a look as well.

They seem to be playing a few of these programs at random times now - we've had this one, the Boomtown Rats, and AC/DC so far.

In recent years, we've had Midge Ure at the Nantwich Civic Hall, and Bob Geldof at the Middlewich Boat Festival (or perhaps the Middlewich Folk Festival, I forget now). I didn't go to either, but both are quite small venues.

The Live Earth thing was awful, but it was the BBCs fault. They come on and play one track I hadn't heard of (not a big fan), then "Nothing Else Matters", which is pretty good, then we switch to Jonathan Ross who tells us we're going over live to Australia to listen to poxy Crowded House, ...

Just reminds me of All Saints - someone should point out that the letter "T" does have a sound to it. I can't tell if she really speaks that badly or if she's doing it for effect.

An ideal job for my new toy - a freeview hard disk recorder. I shall set it to record.

Live at Abbey Road

Quite apart from it being a travesty that the Stranglers haven't been on this show yet, I did catch last weeks (last of the series) with a cracking couple of songs from Iron Maiden. I know they're HM and all that, but they can certainly play. I particularly liked "Hallowed be thy name" in ...

There was a bloke from the Beautiful South in my regular pub a few weeks ago. Didn't recognise him, but managed to overhear a lot of the conversation he was having. I think he's the drummer.
