Re: JEREMY CORBYN - ELECTED LABOUR LEADER

Nice to see Jeremy at the England v France match and standing in solidarity with the French people. He paid a nice tribute to French player Lassana Diarra whose cousin was murdered in the Paris attacks.

Saeed Jaffrey

Sad to hear about the death of Bollywood star Saeed Jaffrey who was 86. Apart from being a big Bollywood player, he was no stranger to British television and cinema with roles in A Passage To India, Gandhi and The Man Who Would Be King, and earned a Bafta nomination for his role in 1985's My Beautif...

Re: JEREMY CORBYN - ELECTED LABOUR LEADER

France have already responded with air attacks on Syrian city of Raqqa on Sunday night. Hard to imagine innocent lives not being lost in those attacks. There's nothing wrong with ordinary people having "vigils and marches", not something I'm into but some folk think they need to do somethi...

Re: My thoughts are with..

The practicalities of closing borders make it just not possible. France's neighhbours are all `friendly´ states and only the crossings with Switzerland have any semblance of security about them. There are thousands of footpaths, woodland, hill crossings and country roads on all of the French frontie...

Re: Warren Mitchell

Of course there was no guarantee that he might've became a well known and serious actor had he not had to drag the Alf Garnett ball and chain about. I know he did a bit of Shakespeare on stage and screen, often playing Shylock in Merchant of Venice. Most actors go through pretty uneventful careers, ...

A former work colleague of mine was also murdered. No words can really describe the events.

Re: Knee jerk reactions to the terrorist attacks in Paris

Stevie when you write "any views that differ from the left". what on earth are you talking about? The attacks in Paris were hardly a result of a left - right paradigm. Furthermore the condemnation of the attacks have been largely universal in that respect. There are many libertarians who l...

Warren Mitchell

Probably understandably lost amidst the tragic events in Paris is the death last night of Warren Mitchell who was 89. Best remembered for his portrayl of Alf Garnett in "Til Death Us Do Part" and later reprising the role in "In Sickness and In Health", his other credits included ...

Re: My thoughts are with..

Usually the people involved in these heinous acts are born and bred in Europe. So closing borders won't be of much use.
