Dark Matters Vs Suite XVI
Apologies if this is in the wrong section, I don’t even recall if this was done. With the reissue of Suite XVI, there seems to be a bit of renewed enthusiasm for this album, and it’s the more current product being promoted than Dark Matters. I’ve essentially rediscovered Suite, after a long pause. I...

Re: Killing Joke
Extremities was a great album, it’s one of their best, certainly one of their best heavier records, Pylon and MMXII are pretty boring albums because they’re repeating this heavy formula, it sounds tired and by numbers to me. I absolutely loved Absolute Dissent, it’s one of their best, Hossanna is a ...

Re: John Lydon
But he didn’t mean it man, however much the Pistols carried a rebellious image in the very distant past, they’re mainstream, inoffensive, and very average by other punk never mind rock standards…

Re: Live Excerpts official fan book
Another not very interesting stranglers book by the sound of it, still it has original observations, first hand testimony, something completely lacking in the two titles released by a Laura Shenton, her 1977 book was just about ok, but her La Folie title is a completely dismal effort.

Re: Killing Joke at RAH next March
The new stuff is good but is in danger of becoming a little formulaic. The first two albums have power and menace and this should be an amazing night! Glad the news is out there at last! I totally agree. As far as I am concerned “Absolute Dissent” although very raw on the recording quality, is a ph...

Re: Toby interview
Whilst, I lost interest in the stranglers as a live unit some time ago, he comes over like a decent bloke, the fact he does music therapy and understands the challenges of autistic people is something that I give him a massive thumbs up for, because frankly too few people out there give a shit

Re: Jubilee anyone Celebrating the event?
This Jubilee is really subjugation of the people,it takes the focus off the shit state this country is in,and all the staff who are looking after my dad are either from India or Africa etc,and a fucking great job they are doing. The NHS is up shit creek,is the Jubilee going to solve that no,get rid...

Re: XTC
Acquired the brand new repressing of “Mummer”. Don’t really like the alternative sleeve artwork, but musically, lyrically it’s a very fine album. A very good repressing, excellent sound quality, excellent quality vinyl, and interestingly proclaiming to be pressed in England. I rate Mummer higher tha...

Re: 10 More Songs About Roses
Thanks for the list. There's a few tunes that I do not know or have forgotten. I will give them a go. I am disappointed that I forgot Garbage and Siouxsie. Cheers. That Garbage one is a classic, from Beautiful Garbage, possibly their most consistent album. There’s also Living in the Rose by New Mod...

Re: 10 More Songs About Roses
Would Hugh's new song get into the above top 10? Hybrid T, Climber or Rambling, the choice is yours... I don’t know all of them , but 1, 4 and 8 definitely prefer them to Hugh’s Rose offering, and would also rate my 10 Rosie’s numbers above it, I unfortunately don’t really like Hugh’s Red Rose very...
