Re: Tour Epitaph

Interesting - For me i don't consider anything post 1990 as the Stranglers the remaining originals seemed to have switched off post 90 Only if you're not listening properly. In The Night is a brilliant Stranglers album mired in crap production. I'd love someone to give it a beefed-up brand new mix ...

Re: Tour Epitaph

In my opinion you can never be totally sure who has an input on the songs properly. Even in the original line up. Although officially all were given credit on many of those songs Jet, Dave must have written the the drum patterns or the keyboards on the songs that Hugh or JJ were given full credit f...

Yes, we know what you think.

I will be honest with you I think Toby is there to stay
Yes I'm sure you're right, but if he's only ever the "live keyboards" guy then he's in the same bracket as Tim Bruce as far as I'm concerned.

Re: Would you see The Stranglers without JJ?

I bet more than a few that stopped going to see the band after Hugh , Dave and Jet probably have now started going again now the shock has lessened Yes, good point, the 2022 gig I saw without Dave was almost unbearably weird and poignant, but the one I saw a couple of weeks ago was much less of a s...

Re: Would you see The Stranglers without JJ?

By making the poll a binary choice you've actually made it really difficult! If the tickets were the same price as they have been recently - probably not If it was more comparable to one of the actual tribute acts like Straighten Out or Rattus Inheritus but with Baz on vocals and some more up to dat...

Re: Tour Epitaph

even Toby seems to be accepted as a Dave replacement now as well. Singing as well as playing No no, not a replacement, not in my eyes. Toby is a "stand-in". In the unlikely event that a new album features some prominent and obvious Toby contributions which stand on their own merit and sta...

Re: Tour Epitaph

You don't have to go to the dates to comment. Similarly you don't have to have seen MKI to comment on MKI live threads etc. Jim Nice to see that this thread reviewing the recent tour has been commandeered by people who didn't actually go to any of the dates. Again. You're right of course, but it wo...

Re: Tour Epitaph

I wouldn't go so far as to say best since the Hugh days (and I never saw MKI or II live so wouldn't say that anyway) but this has certainly been the best tour in years, with possibly the best setlist in decades. JJ was amazing as ever, great vocals and fantastic bass as usual. Baz, as I said in the ...

Re: Cambridge

I went to Cambridge, it was good. I've not been on the forum for a few weeks because I was avoiding all the spoilers. I came back yesterday looking forward to catching up on all the chat about the tour, but it seems to have been killed off and the setlist discussion was locked so that's really grea...

Re: Cambridge

Mine All Mine 100% Paul Roberts written so I don't expect that one - they did it once acoustic with Baz singing on the 2011 convention, was OK I suppose even if Baz struggled with the vocals a bit. Ah yeah, I heard that on the bonus disc with Giants. I was glad that they gave it a go at least, alth...
