I always park up Great Colmore Street up past the Etap hotel when I go into Brum centre by car for anything. Residential up there. Free. Usually a space somewhere. 3 mins walk to the venue. Car never been broken into. Just don't leave any diamonds on display and you should be OK.

How about The Crown again? Plenty of room, cheap, no-nonsense, a few mins from New St station, 10-15-20 mins walk to the venue depending on fitness/sobriety.
