Re: In Memoriam: Christopher Hitchens

Great revisit. What a legend this man was. He, like Stephen fry, are the kind of people that you listen to and speak like you wish you could. Indeed and that debate with Stephen Fry & Christopher Hitchens vs Archbishop John Onaiyekan & Ann Widdecombe over the motion "The Catholic Churc...

Re: Name a song you hate

I don’t really hate any song, I just get annoyed when the melodies from shite songs get stuck in ones head on repeat for fucking hours/ days.

Re: Bands the members of The Stranglers like

Hugh’s a fan of Mr Jimi Hendrix and Cream. He’s ‘borrowed’ a few of their riffs over the years in his songs.

Re: If the Stranglers did a Nirvana cover.....

Hey, everybody! I'm a member of a home recording forum, and sometimes we do recording challenges. A couple of weeks ago, a challenge was set, to pick a track off Nirvana's "Nevermind" and cover it in a completely different style. I chose "Drain You" and tried to do it in the sty...

Re: Top 10 Trios

Rush are the ultimate trio. It'd be almost ridiculous coming up with another 9 when Rush would blow them all out of the water. And Cream would blow Rush out of the water and then The Aristocrats would blow Cream out of the water. So what? Is this a competition Stanley? cos you’ve clearly made it in...

Re: Your not so good gig experiences.

Yeah, I was at that gig also. Someone did drown, loads of thefts by Angel's from tents. Saw fights between Angels and when Sabbath were playing, one Angel decided to make space for himself swinging a motorcycle chain. Despite that, great groups eg Stranglers, Marillion, Stevie Ray Vaughan, Thin Liz...

Re: In Memoriam: Christopher Hitchens

I wasn’t really aware of the man until I started watching him on youtube a few years ago. Been watching him again over the last year and are seriously enjoying the ‘Hitchslaps’ compilations, his debating skills were second to none and his comedy skills were certainly impressive too. It sure would ha...

Re: Your not so good gig experiences.

My not so good gig experience concerning another band was Guns ‘N’ Roses at Castle Donnington Monsters Of Rock in 1988. Wasn’t a big fan but watched them anyway. Two people were crushed from the crowd surges and died that day during their set. I remember when the lights came on at the end of the nig...
