Re: Ticket available for Roundhouse gig tomorrow (6/3)

Stop press. Have just called the venue and asked them to stick it on the door and donate it to the next person who asks. If it's you - enjoy!

Re: The La Folie UK Tour 1981.

Are you sure? I would have gone all in on the million pound drop if I was ever invited on the show and that question had come up - an unlikely scenario I know but an indication of how absolutely cast iron sure I was that they played it that night. I was learning drums at the time, mainly by playing ...

Ticket available for Roundhouse gig tomorrow (6/3)

Hello all - I have a spare ticket going for tomorrow's show at the Roundhouse if anyone needs one. I'd like £30 for it - which is pretty much what I paid for it when you add on transaction fees etc. If anyone's interested, call or txt me on 0771 8966145. I work in central London so the plan would be...

Re: Next Year's Convention 2014.

Sorry, should have been clearer - 10/09 means 10th of September to me. I use the classically imperial DD/MM rather than the terribly nouveaux US convention of MM/DD when I write down dates. And that's the date he sent me the e-mail, not necessarily the date of the sighting. I've written back to him ...

Re: Next Year's Convention 2014.

OK - His e-mail to me was sent on 10/09/13. Here's the text, verbatim, spelling mistakes and all... Saw hugh Cornwell at Birmingham airport - he was cheking in his guitar on a pre-booking line, and I saw his name on teh screen. he was with, I am sure, Jean-Jacques Burnel, and I told him I had, that ...

Re: Next Year's Convention 2014.

I'm not sure who the "stubs" in question is - but it's not me so don't have a go if none of this is true! Now then, in the spirit of people called stubs starting rumours on the flimsiest of evidence - here's one for you all. An old school friend of mine says he saw JJ and Hugh together at Birmingham...

Re: The La Folie UK Tour 1981.

After Lancaster in '79 and '81, Manchester on the first leg of this tour was the thrid time I'd seen tham. I also managed to get to Leeds on the "Second Coming" tour in early '82. The intro to Baroque Bordello at Mancheter was staggering - made me literally go weak at the knees - an effect I've neve...

Re: 1st STRANGLERS GIG

Mine was Lancaster University on the Raven tour in October 1979. It was my first ever real gig and I was 15. I didn't have any of their records at the time but I knew some of the singles from the radio and Top Of The Pops. They opened with one I knew (5 Mins) and the whole place went crazy. I also r...

Re: 1st STRANGLERS GIG

I think that the support band on the Raven tour were called Curve or something like that. My first ever gig (any band) was the Stranglers' Lancaster University gig on the Raven tour in 1979. First ever gig - no idea what to expect - went v early, queued up for ages and got to the front but was pushe...
