Re: Would you see The Stranglers without JJ?
Who goes to see a band based on what they look like (ignoring the music). They're not Girls Aloud [emoji38] Jim I would much rather see the Stranglers without JJ than this embarrassment of a performance https://youtu.be/P63NnqRska8?feature=shared This brings back exactly why I gave up going to see ...

Re: Would you see The Stranglers without JJ?
I would much rather see the Stranglers without JJ than this embarrassment of a performance https://youtu.be/P63NnqRska8?feature=shared This brings back exactly why I gave up going to see "JJ, Jet, Dave and friends" for quite a few years. Baz totally turned things around. That "perfor...

Re: Would you see The Stranglers without JJ?
If there is a future after JJ, I don't think it should be called The Stranglers, but give it a name that links back in some way, eg like Foxton & Co did with From The Jam, or just call it "meninblack" or something else like that.. No more "The Stranglers" selling out large ve...

Re: Would you see The Stranglers without JJ?
] Yes he is proud of his half a century and why not Well my problem is Toiler, is that a Stranglers gig with only post 2000 material (when Baz's musical contribution started) isn't going to pull in even the most hardened of Stranglers fans, with or without a minibus and meat raffle. Yes your probab...

Re: Tour Epitaph
I don't really think Baz has done anything to be fair he's just more popular than Paul in my opinion. Exactly. PR got a hard time not only because he followed Hugh, but because he refused to be anything other than himself and put his own spin on things. In hindsight, this is something to be commend...

Re: Tour Epitaph
With JJ it's nothing to do with money IMO, although of course money is useful to anybody. He's got enough money/ royalties/ pension by now surely. JJ is "a Strangler" at heart, always has been and still is, that's just part of his core belief system. He's always been part of it, and it's a...

Re: Would you see The Stranglers without JJ?
When Hugh left it was abrupt and the new lineup was so different that it was difficult to accept. Jet phased himself out gradually, so that was easier.. When Dave passed it was a shock, and everyone including JJ thought that was it. I probably said before that when I first saw them without Dave I ne...

Re: Tour Epitaph
Personally, I see Baz, Toby and Jim as stand-ins for the proper guys who can't or won't be there. Actually, that's a bit too charitable. They're employees of "JJB&F Inc." I think it's rather rude to Baz to say that considering his input over the yeras. Maybe the other guys are "e...

Re: Tour Epitaph
At the end of the day it's just a form of entertainment, and as far as I've been able to tell everyone is having a great time at the gigs. If you start analysing then of course it's nothing like the Stranglers of old, but then nothing about the world itself is like it was back then. Personally I don...

Re: Tour Epitaph
I only went to one gig, but should've gone to a few more, although none of the others really fitted in logistically for me. But the Cambridge gig was fantastic. I probably said it already, but the current band is such a tight, powerful, and happy unit. The sound quality is spot on. You just can't fa...

Re: Tour Epitaph
If Jet and Dave were looking down, then I can't imagine them feeling anything other than pride at this 50th celebration and at what Jim and Toby have done with their great music. It couldn't have been done any better. Congratulations to the band and crew, and everyone else involved, including us lot...

Re: RAH
So I was at RAH Tuesday evening to celebrate the group's 50th anniversary. Arriving in London on Friday evening, I was able to enjoy this city for a few days. After Paris, it's the city of my heart. I was able to visit a few record stores to bring back some souvenirs because we find the same vinyls...
