What would they have called themsleves ... Stranglers 2 The New Stranglers The Paul Roberts Band Ahhhh- The Paul Roberts Band. :? And now they would have to change to The JJ Burnel Band. A bit insulting to Jet and Dave. And no matter what you think of the '92-04 Stranglers, they were closer to prop...

Those old mysteries are great. I remember being a teenager and going to the theater for a showing of The Maltese Falcon and being surprised by how fast moving and snappy the dialogue was. Likewise the first time I saw an early UK Hitchcock movie, The Secret Agent. He slowed the pace when he came to ...

Must be "The Sting" - a classic. I think I must call it "Der Clou" from now on. A modern noir classic re similar confidence scams by David Mamet is "House of Games". Great! If you liked Der Clou you'd love that. Followed up by "Things Change", "Homicide" , and "The Spanish Prisoner", all good myster...

A friend loves Let It Ride. I think you'd really like California Split.

James Caan was in a movie called The Gambler in the 70s. Pressure of owing bookies and making bets on basketball games over the phone at all hours to make up the dept and avoid broken legs, is all I remember now.

I hear you there....the big one when I was young was the match race in 1975 where Ruffian broke down on the back straight. All that build up, then such a sad event. I have a couple of local horse racing stories I just remembered.... When I did go to the races a few years ago with a friend we asked a...

Wow, I can't believe you've heard of Ferndale. Amazing. I am not interested in horse racing that much, but I did watchsome big races in the 70s on TV, and when I saw an ESPN sports profile of Secretariat a few years ago that was so well done I was curious again. Someone sent me a tape of great finis...

Great album! And great cover photo- one of the best. Really captured the band well.

Howdy

Howdy, (traditional American cowboy welcome) Actually, I'm not a traditional type , here in Northern California a Stranglers fan since high school when a record store owner turned me on to The Raven. We thrilled over the rare article in Trouser Press, or an imported copy of Strangled we were lucky e...
