Re: Tour Epitaph

Was anyone actually playing that little 'ting' sound in the verse of 'Hallow To Our Men'? https://youtu.be/fC6cIKeJzu0?si=eohM5U_W7el16JHf&t=113 Good spot! It may have been on one of Jim's pads to his left, same as the sounds he was using in Ships That Pass In the Night. Or it could have been a...

Re: Tour Epitaph

Now that's got me thinking, not trying to denigrate the tour as i was the one who started the thread then went off thread 😔 but just thinking about Jiggery pokery, there does seem to be more use of extra backing on a few songs ie Stallion, and Breathe had a loop,Baz started the song on Acoustic Guitar...

Re: Tour Epitaph

I don't really think Baz has done anything to be fair he's just more popular than Paul in my opinion. Exactly. PR got a hard time not only because he followed Hugh, but because he refused to be anything other than himself and put his own spin on things. In hindsight, this is something to be commend...

Re: Tour Epitaph

i didn't like Pauls antics on stage or his interpretations of the older material. It really did make me feel sick that i was put off seeing them live again. He could certainly be very cringe sometimes, that's for sure. Great voice though. Weirdly, although I've always liked In the Night, I hated th...

Re: Tour Epitaph

Coup de Grace, best not to talk about really... Wasn't that album exclusively JJ songs? Is it not your favorite? :smt003 Well the JJ songs are certainly the highlights of the album haha. I couldn't argue that Dave and Jet made huge contributions to it though, I think they were very much just going ...

Re: Tour Epitaph

Interesting - For me i don't consider anything post 1990 as the Stranglers the remaining originals seemed to have switched off post 90 Only if you're not listening properly. In The Night is a brilliant Stranglers album mired in crap production. I'd love someone to give it a beefed-up brand new mix ...

Re: Tour Epitaph

In my opinion you can never be totally sure who has an input on the songs properly. Even in the original line up. Although officially all were given credit on many of those songs Jet, Dave must have written the the drum patterns or the keyboards on the songs that Hugh or JJ were given full credit f...

Yes, we know what you think.

I will be honest with you I think Toby is there to stay
Yes I'm sure you're right, but if he's only ever the "live keyboards" guy then he's in the same bracket as Tim Bruce as far as I'm concerned.

Re: Would you see The Stranglers without JJ?

I bet more than a few that stopped going to see the band after Hugh , Dave and Jet probably have now started going again now the shock has lessened Yes, good point, the 2022 gig I saw without Dave was almost unbearably weird and poignant, but the one I saw a couple of weeks ago was much less of a s...

Re: Would you see The Stranglers without JJ?

By making the poll a binary choice you've actually made it really difficult! If the tickets were the same price as they have been recently - probably not If it was more comparable to one of the actual tribute acts like Straighten Out or Rattus Inheritus but with Baz on vocals and some more up to dat...
