Re: RAH
Great setlist and expert playing - I was in the “cheap seats” (gallery standing actually) and had a Birds Eye view of Toby’s keyboard playing in particular. However! It was the culmination of the 50th anniversary tour, at the Royal Albert Hall. Japanese drums aside, there was little to mark the occa...

Re: Strangler in the light
In the book JJ explains that he was quite depressed after Hugh left and let them essentially take the reins. He has nothing but criticism for John Ellis, backed up with some nonsense stories that left me wondering “”is that it?”. As for Paul, he is quite fond of him, but critical of his ability to r...

Re: Strangler in the light
The more I read of this book, the more I can understand exactly why Hugh left. JJ is a total contradiction, unpredictable and constantly reaches for some bullsh** , faux intellectual reason to justify what were many examples of selfish, self sabotaging behaviour. While I think anyone will really enj...

Re: Strangler in the light
JJ hasn't done anything wrong though with keeping the band going. Hugh left and Jet and Dave have sadly passed so he has just pulled in necessary replacements. I'm grateful he has kept the band going. I have also really enjoyed Hugh's solo career. That’s not my point. The point is the lack of sheer...

Re: Strangler in the light
Yeah , perfect gent. Like suggesting he had Hugh’s girlfriend on the Australian tour. Real classy. And his comments about HC are petty and childish, while failing to understand that he makes a living in a band with one original member, using lots of HC originated material, but they sound authentic, ...

Re: Now and Then..... release day.
Paul actually did the George-like slide solo.
George contributes an acoustic guitar part from 1994.
Got to say I’m not a fan of the video at all.

I think I prefer this version

A very accomplished cover that Ron Nasty would be proud of !

Re: XTC
Personally I like what SW has done. The original (which I bought day of issue in its original round cover ) is too harsh for my ears, and although it contains many great songs, I’ve never regarded it as a classic until now. The Linn drum seemed to smash the subtlety out of it. I remember at the time...

Only heard a couple of tracks so far.
Sounds a bit grim if I’m honest but I do need to listen to it all

Re: Pink Floyd the great divider for Stranglers fans
Got the new 5.1 of the Dark Side Of The Moon. A total joy to listen to tracks that I thought I knew so well. Leaving side the usual novelty of surround sound, the instruments sounds so clear and warm, particularly Gilmour’s guitar, and the low sub of Wright’s keyboards. Even a track like Money, whic...
